MSW Admission 2025-26: MSW Master of Social Work is a postgraduate degree that trains students with skills and teaches empathy to enhance the ethical framework required to become a good social work professional. This program mainly focuses on emphasizing ethical practices, social justice, and its advocacy. Professional development and community engagement are consequences of social work programs. Some universities admit students on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam for admission. To enroll in this program, students need to be eligible to pursue Man SW with a bachelor’s degree in hand. Duration of MSW is 2 years. MSW course is a postgraduate program; therefore, it requires a bachelor’s degree as its minimum academic qualification. Eligibility is determined by universities offering MSW programs. Students are advised to go through the websites of universities providing MSW. A minimum percentage of 50%  in a bachelor’s is required to study in MSW. Specializations are also provided in MSW, such as Gerontological social work, Medical social work, Military social work, Child welfare agencies, Community social work, Community development, social work methods, and many others. Students can opt for this specialization can study these for 2 years in a Master’s of social work. MSW courses have an average fee range between INR 20,000 -INR 150,000 in India. Graduates of this course can expect a fee range from INR 3 LAKH – INR  5 LAKH in India.

MSW Admission Eligibility 

Students can apply for MSW program if they hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. A bachelor’s in social work is strongly recommended for admission to MSW, but other bachelor’s degrees are also preferred. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below : 

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a preferred or relevant stream from a reputed and government-approved university. 
  • Minimum Marks:  Minimum aggregate score of 50 % marks in their bachelor’s Degree. 
  • BSW Preference: Universities often prefer students with a Bachelor’s in Social Work.
  • Relevant Disciplines: Students with a bachelor’s degree in humanities, social sciences, management, or commerce are also eligible. 
  • Entrance exams: examinations are also required to be cleared.

Entrance Exams
