BAMS Admission 2025-26: BAMS or Bachelor of ayurvedic medicine and surgery is a 5.5 years undergraduate course for aspiring ayurvedic practitioners. BAMS act as a connecting link between traditional ayurvedic knowledge with modern day practices to treat illness. In this course, one learns how to use ancient knowledge and modern medicine. This course is offered by various colleges in India like National institute of ayurveda, SDM, College of ayurveda and Hospital. One needs to qualify NEET for taking admission in these medical colleges. You can become a scientist, ayurvedic doctor, therapist after completing your BAMS degree. There are many colleges that take admission directly without NEET.

BAMS Syllabus:
Here is a course overview of BAMS. You have a 4.5 years of academic course and 1 year of Internship where you test your practical knowledge. During your academic course you study subjects like Sanskrit, Charaka samhita, Panchkarma, Rachana Sharir etc. In the rest of the 1 year, you test your theoretical knowledge by doing an internship.

BAMS Admission 2025-26:
Admission for BAMS is done in colleges through your scores in NEET. The basic requirement criteria is that the candidate must have completed it’s 10+2 with physics, chemistry and biology as compulsory subjects. You can follow the process below:
STEP 1: Go to NTA i.e.neet.nta.nic.in and register for NEET.
STEP 2: Upload the required documents and fill in the required details. It will help you create a login id and password.
STEP 3: There will be an application fee for NEET examination that you need to submit online through card or UPI. (The fee varies for different castes, SC/ST have application fee around INR 1000 and general category have their application fee approximately INR 1700.)
STEP 4: A few days before your examination, you’ll get your admit card for the NEET examination.
STEP 5: After the results are announced, you’ll enroll in counselling for the AIQ 15 % seats.
BAMS Counselling Process 2025-26:
STEP 1: To participate in counselling, a candidate needs to register themselves on the AYUSH website (aaccc.gov.in ) by providing their neet scores, personal information and educational qualifications.
STEP 2: After registering, fill in your preferred college and course.
STEP 3: You also need to give a counselling fees including non-refundable registration fees and refundable security deposit.
STEP 4: There will be many rounds conducted and there will be state counselling for 85% state quota which is managed by state authorities.
STEP 5: Based on your NEET rank you’ll receive an allotment letter assigning you a specific BAMS college. You need to submit the fees and fill your required documents on the college website.
BAMS Career Opportunities:
After successfully completing BAMS, one can go into clinical research, research, management, government sector, can pursue post graduation and can also become an ayurvedic doctor.
- Ayurvedic doctor: An ayurvedic doctor or Vaidya uses his/her practical skills and ancient knowledge to treat illness. You can practice in the government or private sector. The average salary of a BAMS doctor is around 80,000 to 8,00,000* annually
- Post graduation: Someone who wants to go for higher knowledge can go for M.D. It is a 3 year postgraduate program and allows you to specialize in various disciplines such as Internal medicine, ophthalmology and ENT.
- Research: A Ph.D. degree is designed for research. A person with a postgraduate degree (M.D.) can pursue research and can also become a lecturer side by side.
- Management: The students who want to learn management but also want to be in the medical field can do MBA in Hospital and Healthcare management, MPA (masters in Public health) and MHA ( Masters in Health administrations).
- Government sector: You can enter the government examination by giving the civil service examination UPSC after completing your graduation.
